Alcohol Law Reform
The Law Commission has recently released its final report Alcohol in our lives: Curbing the Harm, on its review of New Zealand's liquor laws.  Close to 3000 submissions were received on the original issues paper Alcohol in our lives, the largest number ever received on a social issue. This sends a strong message to the Government that New Zealanders are motivated by this issue and are ready for change.

To coincide with the report's release, Alcohol Healthwatch and the New Zealand Drug Foundation have joined forces to launch a new initiative called It's our turn to shout.  The aim will be to encourage and support the wider public to become engaged with the issues and send a clear message to our politicians that it's time for better laws around alcohol.

This is the first significant opportunity in 20 years for individuals and communities to have their say about what sort of alcohol laws will better serve all our interests and reduce alcohol-related harm.
